American Education Week Nov. 16-20

American Education Week—November 16-20, 2015—presents all Americans with a wonderful opportunity to celebrate public education and honor individuals who are making a difference in ensuring that every child receives a quality education. This year’s theme is "Great Public Schools: A Basic Right and Our Responsibility," and will be reflected in special observances each day of the weeklong celebration:

On This Day in History: Sesame Street Premiered

 

enhanced-buzz-28726-1374762723-6November 10, 1969 – Sesame Street premiered on public broadcasting.  It is now in its’ 46th season and has aired in 140 different countries.!

With characters such as Big Bird, Oscar the Grouch, Bert & Ernie and so many more they have touched so many lives.  In fact a 1996 survey found that 95% of all American preschoolers had watched the show by the time they were three years old!
